Checkered Garter Snake
The Checkered Garter Snake is one of the easiest garter species to tame and is common in the pet trade. Endemic to USA, Central America and Mexico, they have three recognized subspecies. They are mildly poisonous reptiles, and would also secrete a foul smelling liquid, when provoked.
