Golden Tree Snake

A member of the colubrid group, the Golden Tree Snake is a species that moves by gliding flight, and has bright colorations on its skin and tongue. All these striking features have made them a good choice in pet trade. Till date, three subspecies of this snake have been recognized.

    Color Normally green with black cross-hatching along with yellow to golden accents; specimens from Sri Lanka has reddish vertebral spots
    Distribution India (northern West Bengal, the Western Ghats, Katernia Ghat in Uttar Pradesh, North Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh and the forests of the Andaman islands), Myanmar, Thailand, Western Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China (Hong Kong, Hainan, Yunnan), Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi), and the Philippines.
    Habitat Deep woods with tall trees
    Diet Mainly feeds lizards, bats, frogs, skinks etc.
    Venom Fact Mildly Venomous (not dangerous to man)
    Breeding Season Summer to monsoon
    Mode of Reproduction Oviparous (egg laying)
